The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History just reopened a little while ago, and we were fortunate enough to tag along with some friends one day who already had memberships.
And let me just say, for both me and my daughter:
Oh.
My.
We were just at the "Kid Zone" and didn't even get to scratch the surface of the awesomeness of it all. This particular area had:
--a mirror and clothes to dress up
--a doctor's area, complete with an ambulance and a slew of baby dolls (as if it was a labor and delivery area of a hospital
--a supermarket with baskets, food, and check-out lines (that beep when you run the food over it)
--a building area where you can build roads and bridges for cars (plus, you can wear a hardhat!)
--a young child's area set up in an ocean theme
--mats and balance beams
--a television with a show on a loop, featuring kids and their favorite sports and activities
and more! It's been a few weeks since we were there, so I need to return to refresh my memory. There is also a water area outside where your kids can wear smocks to play with water (new summertime activity for us-score!) The gift shop even has a slide in it.
We played for a little while, although it took my daughter a little while to warm up to everything. I think that there was just SO much to do, she didn't know what to do. After an hour or so, we went down to the Stars Cafe and ate lunch. I ate a spinach salad with walnuts and cranberries, and my little girl nibbled off a slice of pizza. It wasn't the cheapest meal, but at least it was good!
More things the museum features:
--IMAX movie theater
--a planetarium
--Museum school (a preschool at the museum)
Just as we couldn't even begin to explore all that was there, I can't even begin to explain all the museum offers on this one, dinky, little post. So, go to the website, or better yet, go there.

A year's membership is now on my daughter's birthday wish list, and I will make sure that one's definitely checked off.
